Frequently asked questions about our housing queue
Here you can find answers to some of the most common questions.
The housing queue at SBS is based on queue days. You start collecting queue days from the day you register and continue collecting as long as you remain in the queue. When you find an apartment you’re interested in, you submit an expression of interest and are placed in the selection based on the number of queue days and any priority rules. Queue days are not affected by applying for housing – they continue to accumulate until you accept a contract.

Yes, that is fine. Create one account per child and make sure to enter the child’s personal details. Please note that each account must have a unique email address, so you cannot use the same email address for multiple accounts.
How quickly you can get an apartment depends on what time of year you apply and which location it concerns. Around admission decisions and the start of semesters, demand is higher and competition is greater. In some locations, we sometimes use a first come, first served principle, where we contact you after you have submitted an expression of interest for a specific home.
An offer is sent to several applicants and does not mean that you have been awarded a tenancy agreement. The offer is a way for us to see which applicants are still interested in continuing in the rental process. Once we have reviewed all responses, we contact the applicant who is first in the queue and offer a tenancy agreement. If that person declines, the offer is passed on to the next applicant in line.
You cannot rank offers or freely choose between multiple apartments. Only accept the apartments you would actually be willing to sign a lease for. The letting process then follows our standard queue and selection rules.
