What do I do if the sink gets clogged?

If the water drains slowly in your sink, or if you experience an unwanted odor, it may be time to clean the water trap. The apartment holder is always responsible for this. Replacing a water trap in the sink is easy and takes five steps:

  • Get a bucket or something to put under the water trap
  • Carefully unscrew the upper part of the water trap.
  • Then unscrew the part of the water trap that is connected to the pipe.
  • Empty and rinse the filter and wipe it off with a cloth if necessary.
  • Then reassemble the water trap on the pipe and sink. Make sure to tighten the rings a little extra carefully and then test to rinse water before removing the bucket.

If it is the shower that needs to be fixed instead, clean the water trap in the floor drain. Lift the grate that covers the floor drain and wipe away any hair or other debris that has gotten stuck in the grate. Brush the drain clean and then flush it with the hand shower. Replace the grate and check that there is water in the floor drain.

If you have questions or need help with other measures in your apartment, please contact the property manager.
