Jönköping is a vibrant student city with surrounding lake views and a beautiful cityscape. Partnerships with international schools and institutions mean that both the university and the city are characterized by a diverse demographic with students from over 100 countries. Through close collaboration with the municipality, the university, and students, we at SBS have launched a new housing project ready for occupancy in 2021–2022 – a project that is the company’s first in Jönköping.
We plan to build 407 climate-smart student apartments in the scenic area of Ekhagen, with occupancy in stages from late summer 2021 to spring 2022. Campus Träbyn, as it is called, is just a stone’s throw from both the city center and one of the city’s three lakes, offering an appealing environment with proximity to a variety of activities. Our goal is to add attractive student housing to the beautiful nature and opportunities available in the area, which is a significant part of Jönköping’s student life and a meeting place for new and returning students at Jönköping University.
With frames built of wood, sedum roofs, and energy consumption based on solar panels, we offer sustainable and climate-smart housing that aligns with the university’s and students’ sustainability mindset and expectations. Campus Träbyn consists of several residential buildings with apartments in various designs, offering the possibility to live alone or share accommodation with a friend. Smart living solutions provide students with cost-effective and social housing options, which for many is the first time living independently.
“The apartments we build should have a rent that is affordable for a student while also making their study time enjoyable and promoting the social aspect that we know is very important when new students arrive in a completely new city and move away from home for the first time. An example is the shared two-bedroom apartments where two friends can share the accommodation and reduce their costs without compromising on quality,” shares Rebecka Eidenert, CEO of Studentbostäder i Norden.
With walking distance to the A6 shopping center, Ikea, and COOP, you as a student have easy access to both shops and daily necessities. In the area around the residence, you will find an outdoor gym, greenhouse, recycling station, and car parking, all to promote a simple and sustainable student life. Study rooms and common areas adapted for social interaction characterize our residences, which are designed to promote socializing and community. With Campus Träbyn, we at SBS want to continue creating student environments that are inspiring, stimulating, and rewarding for current and future students in the Nordics.
